Proletary is an urban-type settlement in Novgorod municipal area Novgorod region.

The village is located 7 km from Lake Ilmen and 30 km southeast of Veliky Novgorod on the left bank of the Bolshaya Nisha River, opposite the village of Bronnitsa along the old section of the Rossiya federal highway (Moscow - St. Petersburg M10, E 105), ( the so-called new section - along the ring road bypassing Veliky Novgorod).

The village also has a hospital, a veterinary clinic, a police station, two kindergartens, a secondary comprehensive school and a cultural center. In 2004, a boarding house for the elderly and disabled was built here.

Story

In 1882, a pottery factory was built here, and two years later the factory began producing porcelain and earthenware products. On November 7, 1892, the plant was acquired by Ivan Kuznetsov, who also owned the Georgian plant (see Krasnoporforny).

The status of an urban-type settlement is from January 30, 1931. From March 1941 until the early 1960s, Proletary was the center of the Mstinsky district, first in Leningrad region, and then from 1944 in the Novgorod region.

Economy

Porcelain factory "Proletary", the main product is tableware (the company exists, but has been in bankruptcy since 1996). There is a porcelain museum at the factory. In addition, there is a printing house, a house of consumer services, and a forestry operation. Also in 2009, a Magnit supermarket was opened, as well as a Pyaterochka supermarket.
