Key to the test
The integral indicator of general mental abilities (IP) is equal to the number of correctly solved problems.
Interpretation of test results
It is advisable to begin analyzing the results by determining the level of general mental abilities. To do this, the number of correctly solved problems (IP) is correlated with the level scale.
The established level is a multi-parameter indicator of general abilities. This technique allows you to highlight these parameters and analyze them.
The ability to generalize and analyze material is established on the basis of completing tasks on proverbs. These tasks require abstraction from a specific phrase and a transition to the area of interpretation of meanings, establishing their intersections and a new return to specific phrases.
Flexibility of thinking as a component of general abilities is also determined by completing tasks on proverbs. If the subject’s associations are chaotic in nature, then we can talk about rigidity of thinking (for example, tasks such as No. 11).
Inertia of thinking and switchability are important characteristics general learning abilities. To diagnose them, a special arrangement of tasks in this test is provided. Alternation various types tasks in the text can make it difficult for people with inert connections from past experience to solve them. Such persons have difficulty changing their chosen way of working, are not inclined to change the course of their judgments, or switch from one type of activity to another. Their intellectual processes are inactive, the pace of work is slow.
Emotional components of thinking and distractibility are identified by tasks that can reduce the test scores of subjects (24, 27, 31, etc.). Emotionally reacting subjects begin to smile and turn to the experimenter instead of being directed at the object, that is, the task.
The speed and accuracy of perception, distribution and concentration of attention are determined by tasks No. 8 and 13. They reveal the ability to work with a wide variety of material in a short time, highlight the main contents, compare numbers, signs, etc.
Language use and literacy can be analyzed based on the completion of tasks on the ability to use the language. Task No. 8 requires basic knowledge foreign language(within the alphabet).
Orientation is established through analysis of the subject’s strategy for choosing tasks to solve. Some subjects solve all problems in a row. Others – only those that are easy for them and can be solved quickly. Determining the ease of a solution is very individual. Here, in addition, the inclinations of the test takers are revealed. Some of them look at the tasks printed on this test sheet and first select mathematical problems that have numerical content, while others, using this strategy, prefer verbal problems.
Spatial imagination is characterized by solving four problems that involve operations in two-dimensional space.
Thus, the CAT technique can be used to study a relatively large number of components of general abilities. With its help, a person’s learning ability and business qualities are quite reliably predicted.

CAT test: Evaluation of results
It is advisable to begin analyzing the results by determining the level of general mental abilities. To do this, the number of correctly solved problems (IP) is correlated with the level scale.The established level is a multi-parameter indicator of general abilities. This technique allows you to isolate these parameters and analyze them.
Test for the reaction speed of the CPD in the Ministry of Internal Affairs - "Red Square" (online)
There is also another test at the testing center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that you may be asked to take. This is a reaction test called "Red Square".The essence of the test is that you sit at the computer while taking the test, they open a program with a pictured square edged in black, inside of which there is a smaller red square in the center. You need to hold the red square with your mouse and, while moving it, avoid “collisions” with other shapes and the edges of the large square.
You can try to take the Red Square reaction test online and find out your time in the emulator window below.

This technique allows you to isolate these parameters and analyze them.
Inertia of thinking and switchability are important characteristics of general learning abilities. To diagnose them, a special arrangement of tasks in this test is provided. The alternation of different types of tasks in the text can make it difficult for people with inert connections from past experience to solve them.
Task No. 8 assumes basic knowledge of a foreign language (within the alphabet).
Scales: thinking (generalization, analysis, flexibility, inertia, switchability), perception (speed, accuracy, distractibility), attention (distribution, switchability), speech (language use, literacy), imagination (spatial)

The established level is a multi-parameter indicator of general abilities. This technique allows you to isolate these parameters and analyze them.
Ability to summarize and analyze material are established on the basis of completing tasks on proverbs.

Such persons have difficulty changing their chosen way of working, are not inclined to change the course of their judgments, or switch from one type of activity to another. Emotional components of thinking and distractibility are identified by tasks that can reduce the test scores of subjects (24, 27, 31, etc.). Emotionally reacting subjects begin to smile and turn to the experimenter instead of being directed at the object, that is, the task.

Language use, literacy can be analyzed based on the performance of tasks on the ability to use the language. Task No. 8 assumes basic knowledge of a foreign language (within the alphabet).
Orientation is established through analysis of the test subject’s strategy for choosing problems to solve. Some subjects solve all problems in a row. Others - only those that are easy for them and solved quickly. Determining the ease of a solution is very individual. Here, in addition, the inclinations of the test takers are revealed. Some of them look at the tasks printed on this test sheet and first select mathematical problems that have numerical content, while others, using this strategy, prefer verbal problems.
Spatial imagination characterized by solving four problems involving operations in two-dimensional space.
Thus, the CAT technique can be used to study a relatively large number of components of general abilities. With its help, a person’s learning ability and business qualities are quite reliably predicted.
- For example, if a subject has not completed tasks No. 10, 13, then he should be recommended exercises that develop concentration and distribution of attention.
- If the subject copes poorly with tasks of type No. 2, 5, 6, then in this case reading will help him explanatory dictionaries, dictionaries catchphrases and words, proverbs and sayings, dictionaries foreign words and bilingual dictionaries, and is also useful for solving linguistic problems.
- If the subject has performed numerical tasks poorly, then collections of puzzles are useful for developing the corresponding property.
- In the case where the subject has problems with tasks requiring spatial representation, it is important to train concentration of attention on a variety of objects, followed by the transformation of their images into representation.

Appendix 5.
Test "Intellectual lability"
The test requires a high concentration of attention and speed of action from the test taker. The subjects must complete simple tasks within a limited period of time (a few seconds), which will be read out by the experimenter. The examination can be carried out either individually or in a group; it is possible to use a tape recorder. Each subject is given a special form.

Before carrying out the technique, the experimenter must carefully read the tasks and during the examination procedure clearly pronounce the number of the square in which the next task will be performed, since the numbers of tasks and squares on the test subject’s form do not match.
The assessment is made based on the number of errors. An error is any task that is missed, not completed, or completed with an error.
Completion rate:
0-4 errors – high lability, good learning ability;
5-9 errors – average lability;
10-14 errors – low lability, difficulties in retraining;
15 or more mistakes mean little success in any activity.
The test requires little time to conduct testing and process the results, but at the same time it gives a fairly accurate forecast of professional suitability.
Appendix 6.
Intellectual Potential Test (IPT)
The test belongs to the group of practical (nonverbal) tests and is aimed at identifying the level of development of nonverbal intelligence. During the diagnosis, the subject’s ability to derive patterns based on the analysis and synthesis of non-verbal information is examined. The success of the test depends on the ability to think logically and reveal significant connections between objects and phenomena. Recommended for persons over 14 years of age. 20 minutes are allotted for working with the main tasks.
Instructions. The test includes 4 practice tasks and 29 main ones. Each task occupies one line, on the left side there are four squares, three of which are filled with drawings, and the fourth is empty. The drawings on the left are in a specific sequence that is not complete. Your task is to find a suitable picture on the right side of the task and write down its number in the empty square, thus completing the sequence. Which of the pictures on the right do you think can take place in the empty square?
After the subject is familiar with the instructions, the professional consultant goes over it with him training tasks, emphasizing that there is only one correct solution. The subject must find this solution.
In case of an error, the experimenter shows the correct solution and explains it. After making sure that the subject understands what is required of him, the experimenter gives the command to begin performing the main task. After 10 minutes, the client should be warned that half the time has passed. After 20 minutes the operation stops.
